his paper intends to explore the difficulties in translating the author‘s conceptosphere and studies the translation quality of the verbalized concept ―cathedral‖ used in Oles Honchar novel ―The Cathedral‖. The research is based on conceptual scheme of D. Davidson, principles of conceptual models of S. Zhabotynska and other theories relevant to the translation process as well as to the process of concept analysis. Some examples of translation inadequacies in rendering the concept ―cathedral‖ are given in table 2. The notion of conceptual seme is introduced in the research. |
