Description |
The evolution and collapse of a gas self-gravitating toroidal vortex are considered. The thin vortex is shown to first contract along the small radius to a quasi equilibrium condition, then the slowerlarge-radius contraction to a compact vortex object follows. This latter reveals the capability of forming a jet along the vortex axis that results in its collapse. With the thermal pressure considered for sufficiently large masses the vortex still remains stable even for a polytropic exponent of < 43 . In the degenerate gas case the compact vortex evolution essentially differs for electrons and neutrons. In the ultra relativistic limit the neutron gas reveals the vortex velocity circulation dependent interval of steady masses.
